BRAINTREE ACCESS

Spring Activities
Our programming has expanded to evenings and weekends through our Transitional Services funded by DDS. Many members have enjoyed joining a Bowling league, exploring Volunteer services, visiting museums, becoming members of local area clubs, and even meeting with family members in the community. This program assists individuals to get ready to move into the community again from our local Nursing Homes.
Pampered Paws is going strong! Our cooking groups make, package and sell dog biscuits in the community as a fundraiser for Special Olympics. The Pampered Paws members are stepping up their efforts as the May 2010 Special Olympic games draws near.
Braintree’s Men’s group, headed by Leslie McAlister, our Behavior Specialist, is meeting with great success. The guys explore a variety of topics and enjoy an atmosphere of learning and fun!
We had started a compost last year that is getting more filled up by the day as we prepare for spring planting!
Braintree’s Art Club meets weekly and the paintings and other art pieces coming out of this group is amazing! Instructor, Quincy Morgan is guiding new and creative techniques with the members of this club.
A special performance by the Department of Developmental Services Band, MAI, was very successful! Members and visitors sang and danced along with the incredibly talented musicians. Mondays are our Music day and Joe Hamilton gets everyone singing. Right now this group is deciding on what musical they would like to perform here.

March is Spa month so we have a few Sensory “Spa” days planned along with Yoga and Pilates.
March 17th St. Pat’s Party for all our Irish Lads and Lassies (and everyone else!); Music, refreshments and games will be the agenda for the day.
PLYMOUTH ACCESS CENTER
An Artistic Spring
Members at Plymouth Access Center are anxiously awaiting the advent of Spring. We have been displaying our Art at PAC TV Gallery this Winter and will be attending the "Meet the Artist" Reception in March, which will feature three of our members who made a Television Video for PAC TV regarding their Art projects. The "Plymouth High Rollers" will start rehearsing again for their Spring Concert Schedule. Other annual events include St. Patrick's Day, Ladies Social, along with Monthly Birthday Recognitions.

The art group sold hand painted clocks, signs and magnets. The sewing group made an apron and hot pads for sale in the "kitchen" themed basket.
A local singer/guitarist, Lori Pilla, will perform on Friday, March 5th at 1:30 at the Upper Cape Access Center. Her repertoire includes an eclectic mix of country & western, jazz and traditional favorites.
A St. Patrick's Day party will be held on Friday, March 12th at 1:30 PM. The celebration will include live music, dancing and refreshments.
Instructors Bob Ford and Ticia Glover as well as expressive therapist, Bill Newman report the topics, Men's and Women's groups are going strong.

MID-CAPE & ISLANDS
ACCESS CENTER
Special Olympics Ahead
We are excited to team up with the Alzheimer’s Services of Cape Cod & the Islands to provide hands on art activities on site for program members coping with Alzheimer’s. Offsite, members have been participating in community based art discussion groups. We are having fun making new friends in our community and supporting our members to take advantage of outside resources.
Everyone is getting excited for our annual Special Olympics and have been planning a variety of their own fundraising activities. Members are currently busy baking for upcoming and ongoing bake sales.
The Hyannis basketball team continues to enjoy Friday recreational trips with students from Barnstable High School. After a serious game of basketball, members and students are routinely rewarded with the opportunity to use the Barnstable Recreation Center’s game room. Students and members pair off to play games of pool, foosball, air hockey, and ping-pong.
